Tennessee. The state senate has approved a bill that will allow hospitals in the state to pay a fee to avoid $659 million in TennCare cuts. Gov. Phil Bredesen had proposed cutting $201 million from TennCare, the state’s Medicaid program, to help balance the state’s budget. The cuts would be averted through the hospital assessment.
