PPACA Update
January 26, 2011 – SIIA lobbyists this week met with senior staff members of the House Oversight Committee to discuss anticipated hearings focused on the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act (PPACA), and more specifically how SIIA can be involved in this process.
Over the past two months the association’s government relations committee has been collecting information from self-insured employers regarding how the new health care law is affecting them now, as well as how they may change their plans when additional regulations are implemented. SIIA is positioning itself so that it is able to provide this type of information to the committee when hearings are held.
Committee staff confirmed their interest in learning more about self-insured health care plans, but the scope and schedule of hearings has yet to established so watch for additional updates.
This outreach by SIIA is part of the association’s ongoing efforts to influence future legislative/regulatory actions that are likely as health care reform continues.
Learn more about this and other important developments in Washington, DC during SIIA’s Legislative/Regulatory Update webinar, scheduled for February 2, 2011 (next week). Also be sure to sign up for the association’s Legislative/Regulatory Conference, scheduled for March 14-16, 2011 in Washington, DC. You can access registration information for both events on-line at www.siia.org, or by calling 800/851-7789.
