AHIP Report Highlights Trends and Innovations in Disability Income Insurance
AHIP recently published a new report highlighting trends and innovations in disability income insurance that are helping to address the needs of employers and employees.
The report, Trends and Innovations in Disability Income Insurance, describes strategies that disability income insurers have developed in three key areas:
- To confront the challenges of chronic disease, disability insurers offer a range of workplace health and wellness programs; help coordinate health care and disability support services; and provide specialized services to employees with cancer and other serious health conditions.
- To help employers and employees do more with less during the economic downturn, disability insurers offer workplace support services that help foster success even as workers strive to address difficult family and health issues. In addition, insurers are finding creative new ways to help workers on long-term disability move forward on the path to independence and productivity.
- To help older workers remain on the job, disability insurers are helping employers establish workplace mentoring programs and offer support options, including modified workstations and flexible work schedules.
The new publication is part of AHIP’s ongoing effort to highlight promising trends and innovations in our industry.
